Outcomes: Occupation as a University Target, and Careers of Occupied graduates Making-the-most of Educational Skills

Project Description

The study was aimed at connecting the higher educational system with production and work activities in Italy.

Three connected projects (PRIN: Research project of relevant national interest) funded by MIUR, the Ministry of Education, University and Research, and by the Universities, to which the Research units belonged, are documented.
The projects were allotted funds for six years as a whole, starting from 2003. The first project was titled: “Short-medium Term Employment Scenarios, Professional Competencies and University Education: Models, Analytic Methods and Applications inherent to the Tertiary Sector”. The second was titled: “Models and methods to match formative profiles and professional needs of some compounds of “advanced” tertiary”, and the last: “Models, indicators and methods for the analysis of the educational effectiveness of a university study programme to the purpose of its accreditation and improvement”
Till the end of 2010, the Research group organized 15 scientific meetings and published 18 volumes and a larger number of papers in scientific journals.
PeriodThe first project was funded in 2003 and started its activity at the end of that year. The second issue was funded in 2005 and started its activity in 2006 and the last issue was funded in 2008 (reference year 2007) and is still going on. The whole project will end in September 2011.

Several academic and non-academic research units participated in the project.

Nine universities (Bari, Cagliari, Florence, Foggia, Milano-Bicocca, Naples “Federico II”, Rome “La Sapienza”, Padua and Siena) and Istat, the National Bureau of Statistics, participated in the first issue of the programme.
Twelve universities (Bari, Chieti-Pescara, Lecce, Milano-Bicocca, Naples “Federico II”, Padua, Roma “La Sapienza”, Rome “Tor Vergata”, Turin, Tuscia-Viterbo, Urbino and Trieste) and three non-academic research bodies (Unioncamere Research Centre, Isfol, the research institute of the Ministry of Welfare, and Istat), participated in the second round.
Even more universities (Bari, Cagliari, Lecce, Chieti Telematic “Leonardo da Vinci”, Milano-Bicocca, Modena & Reggio Emilia, Naples “Federico II”, Padua, Roma “La Sapienza”, Rome “Tor Vergata”, Turin, Tuscia-Viterbo, Urbino and Verona) and non-academic research bodies (Unioncamere Research Centre, Isfol, Istat, Ministry of Welfare and Veneto Lavoro, the regional agency of the Ministry of Welfare) participated in the third programme.
Altogether, the project involved in research activities 18 university units and 5 non-academic research bodies.
