Agorà: Assessment of Graduates’ Outcomes and Retrospective Acknowledgements

Project Description

This website includes the information on the research outcomes of an interdisciplinary group of scholars who analysed the employability and careers of Padua University graduates so that hints for improving the education processes at Padua University could stem.

We describe the indicators, models and analytical results of the pathways from university to work of graduates and follow up both previously and newly employed graduates for three years after recruitment. Moreover, we suggest ways to measure the social and human capital that students can achieve attending university study programmes. We have lent particular attention to students and graduates, who were either disabled or foreigner or started working before graduation or self-employed as entrepreneurs.
Survey methodology
The data collection started in September 2007 and is expected to last till the end of 2011.
The data are collected with a CATI – Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing system. A Commission of Representatives of the University of Padua faculties has defined the sample size and the questionnaires.
The survey is longitudinal, that is the data are collected for the first time at graduation (time 0), then at 6, 12 and 36 months from graduation. By connecting individual data at subsequent times, it is possible to evaluate the evolution of individual positions with respect, among the other issues, to employment, competencies’ utilization, income and worksite.
The Commission defined the methodological guidelines for data collection on graduates. Another Research group organized two scientific meetings and published one volume and a certain number of papers in scientific journals. A meeting is expected towards the end of 2011 and a volume is going to be published as well.
Period The project started in September 2007 and will be accomplished by 2011. The data analysis project was funded in 2008 and should be concluded by the end of 2011. The whole project will expire in February 2012.

The University of Padua Senate defined the Commission for the Graduates’ Survey by pooling together both representatives of Faculties and employees of two concerned university offices (see underneath).
